Twisting Green Apron Arms Upward

Twisting Green Apron Arms Upward 1983-4

56cm. X 76.5cm. 22in. X 30in.
BFK Rives
monoprint variation

Notes
This apron was printed from its impression on an aborite surface coated with green ink. The hands were printed from folded and inked, cut paper cutouts. The coloured intervals on the ties were printed from card through small stencils. The dark background was added later from inked card, around a central block out stencil.

Both of the apron arms in this print are twisted upward. This is a gesture of giving up hope for ending their exploitation by governments. Housewives/mothers who raise the next generation of citizens are expected to work for nothing.
