This painting was made in Providence, Rhode Island, after a visit to a beach. It was drawn and painted from memory, and was made in two sections to be hung in a corner or facing a corner. It presents the hovering presence of a child and the constant awareness by mothers of the closeness of children, in the glare of the water.
