This small hostess apron was printed from its contact impression in sienna ink on a zinc plate. Since it left a very clear impression, many variations of this image were produced. The letters W O R K were added on the skirt or on the ties, to remind some viewers that although this is an attractive apron, it covers up tedious work. There is a plate mark on this monoprint, since it was produced on a zinc plate without etching. Unlike many of the exploited apron images, no dark backgrounds were ever added to any of the variations.
Heat transfer photo images of this apron were used in the Housework Series to create prints and variations titled Beautiful Apron Myth. This apron monoprint can be seen in the video “The View from my Room is Great.”
