Notes

The stove element shape was transferred to an etching plate from a rubbing made from a stove element. The element area of the plate was deeply etched. The plate was inked in black and relief printed onto paper which had been previously printed in red. The zinc bubble plate was hand drawn, etched, and relief printed with a colour gradation.

The title “Slow Boil” for the exhibition at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre in 2006, was derived from this print. It refers to the frustration that simmers below the surface of disillusioned housewives.
