Notes
The floor image was made by sweeping a straw broom across a soft ground coated zinc plate. The soles of children’s shoes were pressed into the soft ground acid resist. Clothes pegs and alphabet blocks were placed in the resist also. The images of blocks beside the broom were off-set onto the print. The image of the broom was made from an offset from the inked broom onto a plastic sheet. This was transferred to a dacron screen and printed. The resulting image was hand coloured with a Prismacolour pencil.
The print was made to record the evidence of children in the home and the repeated need for sweeping.
